Fast Retail Billing & Checkout FAQ
Retail Pro Prism features a highly customizable POS interface built on a web-based architecture — running in standard web browsers on desktop PCs, iPads and iPhones. This flexibility allows your team to provide fast billing anywhere in the store, from a fixed terminal to the sales floor.
How can we customize the UI to fit our brand?
The Prism UI is designed for deep personalization without requiring complex coding. Through the UI Manager, a Retail Consultant can help you:
- Change brand assets — update the UI with your company logo and custom background images.
- Tailor layouts — configure "Zones" to show or hide specific buttons, such as tenders, lookup fields, or transaction options.
- Adjust menus — customize the Transaction and Item menus so only the most relevant tools are visible to your cashiers.
How does Retail Pro Prism accelerate the checkout process?
- Advanced item lookup — find items instantly using ALUs, UPCs, descriptions, or partial wildcards.
- Quick customer creation — add new customers "on the fly" directly from a transaction in progress.
- Automated promotions — complex promotions apply automatically as soon as criteria are met.
- Consolidated scanning — scanning the same item multiple times automatically consolidates it into a single line with updated quantity.
Can cashiers handle different transaction types at once?
Yes. A single transaction can include a mixture of sale, return and order items — a customer can buy new shoes while returning a shirt and placing a special order, all in one seamless workflow.
What payment methods (tenders) are supported?
Prism supports virtually any payment method: cash, checks, credit/debit cards, plus:
- Central gift cards and store credit — real-time validation across all stores prevents fraud and "double-dipping."
- Custom tenders — define up to 10 unique custom tenders for modern alternative payment apps or local billing requirements.
How does the system help prevent errors during checkout?
- Merchandise & customer images — item images let cashiers visually verify the correct product; customer images add security for high-value transactions or store credit redemptions.
- Integrated EFT — integration with processors like Adyen or Global Payments automatically sends the "Amount Due" to the card terminal, eliminating manual entry errors.
